This light-Mid weight luxe nautral linen is suitable for apparel, homewares and craft.

Flax linen is the fabric that is woven from flax yarns. Because flax yarns are thick and strong—up to three times stronger than cotton—flax linen can last for years, and even decades which guarantees you a high quality, sustainable, and ethically produced product.

We love this linen as it gets softer the more it is washed.  (Why?  The pectin that binds the fibres gradually dissolves when in contact with water, the fabric becomes even softer with every wash—without losing its trademark strength).

Linen is naturally hypoallergenic and anti-bacterial. This makes flax linen a great choice for sensitive skin.

And It's absorbent and dry: Linen can absorb up to 20% of its own weight in water without feeling damp. And because it absorbs and transports moisture rapidly, linen is great to wear and great for napery and tea towels.

More linen than cotton, the softness and smoothness of cotton resolves the roughness of the linen, with the lightness of the cotton balancing the linen's stiffness. This natural fibre combination make it a perfect choice for summer clothing.

For the perfect marriage of breathability and elasticity, our Stretch Cotton Woven fabric provides unmatched comfort- moving with you throughout the day.

Stretch wovens have the structure of a woven fabric with the addition of spandex or Lycra, making them easier to move in. Garments like fitted pants, skirts, dresses, and jackets become more comfortable and practical when sewn in stretch wovens.

A two-way stretch heat is stretch fabric’s archnemesis, so pre-wash in cold water with a mild detergent, then dry on a low setting.

Composition: 92% Cotton 8% Spandex

Weight: 150gsm

Width: 138cm

Price per 0.5m: $16.00

What can I make with this fabric? Well there are a lot of projects that make stretch cotton woven a perfect fabric choice. It's great for shorts, dresses, button up shirts, pants, jackets - any garment you want to move in and sit down comfortably.

Please note that the trick to this fabric is to select patterns that require woven not knits. Look for patterns with three inches of ease or less. This does not mean that the entire garment has to be fitted, but less ease in the bust, waist, and hip will create the most flattering effect.

If the pattern you are using suggests stretch wovens, you can cut a size based on your measurements. In some cases, you may find it helpful to size down. If the garment has two or more inches of ease, sizing down can help you achieve a closer fit. You may also consider sizing down if you fall between sizes.

If sewing more than a scrunchie with this look for patterns that have simple lines and few finicky design details.. Generally speaking, patterns designed for stretch fabrics work best – just make sure they don’t require a higher stretch percentage than the fabric has. If so, consider sizing up.

Tencel is also strong and moisture wicking.

One of fabric testers commented:

“I can report that it is easier to cut and sew than rayon and feels much nicer (silkier) than 100% cotton woven. Has a lovely soft drape ..... Doesn’t fray stupidly either! ….. and it doesn’t crease badly either! No colour run when washed.

It irons up so nicely. Holds the pressing, and creases from being folded come out easily.”
